Effective date: August 4, 2026. This policy covers the HourEngine desktop app (formerly TimeBoard, renamed August 2026) specifically, and is distinct from the general msoflow.io site privacy policy. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel.
The app stores all of your data — timers, clients, projects, and the activity/window titles its passive watcher records — locally on your own computer, in a SQLite database under your Windows user profile. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. There is no analytics or telemetry, and no account is required to use the app.
Local storage only. Timer entries, clients, projects, sub-projects, settings, and the passive watcher's activity records (foreground app and window title, with timestamps) are stored in a single SQLite file at %LOCALAPPDATA%\HourEngine\hourengine.db on your machine. (Installs upgraded from the app's earlier TimeBoard releases have their data folder moved there automatically from %LOCALAPPDATA%\TimeBoard.) Nothing about your work — clients, time, or window titles — is written anywhere else.
No account. The app does not require sign-in, a username, or an email address to run. We have no user database, because there is no server-side account to store one in.
The app's local web server binds to 127.0.0.1 only — it is not reachable from other devices on your network or the internet.
The sole outbound network call the app makes is an optional daily update check: a standard web request to fetch a small version file hosted at msoflow.io, to see whether a newer release is available. That request does not include any personal data, time entries, client names, or activity records — it is the same kind of request your browser makes to load any web page. This check can be turned off at any time in the Setup tab.
We don't collect, transmit, sell, or share your time-tracking or activity data. We don't run analytics or telemetry inside the app. We don't use your data to train AI models, because it never reaches us in the first place.
Uninstall the app and delete its local data folder at %LOCALAPPDATA%\HourEngine to remove everything it has ever stored. Because that data lives only on your device, we have no copy to delete on our end — deleting the local folder is complete removal.
If the app is distributed through the Microsoft Store, this same policy applies to the Store build without modification — the Store package changes how the app is installed and updated, not what it stores or where it sends data.
